much sooner than we'd originally planned, too.
When we moved in here last summer, we were finishing the wedding planning, and really didn't have time to choose carefully a neighborhood we might want to stay in, or give the search for a home the time it needs. Our plan was to rent for a year-ish, and then decide whether we were ready to buy then, or wanted another year, or some indeterminate middle ground. We even revisited the issue last week, thinking about whether we were really ready to commit, what the state of our finances is, and how establishing credit for Cayne in the US was going. And we'd kind of decided that we weren't quite ready, that even though housing prices are falling here, and interest rates are rising, we wanted a few more months before we were ready to start the house buying process, that we have something put away for a downpayment, but we'd like to save more.
We got our renewal notice from the apartment complex today. We like where we live-it's a good value for the money, the location is good, and though it has it's foibles and limitations, we were happy here, at least for the time being. We thought about renewing our lease for a year, and looking to buy next summer, and that would have been fine for us. But not at $155 more a month. We like this place, but not that much.
Admittedly, I'm looking forward to being able to paint, and not living in the land of beige.
