I've had serious pain, in the right spots that I suspect rupturing or something going on with ovarian cysts. It's been painful enough that I've reached for the Ultram and thought about asking for something stronger. And painful enough that I considered waking Cayne up to take me to the ER tonight. Can someone please tell me about what the rupturing ovarian cysts feel like, before I call my doctor's office with the suggestion that these are cysts?

It feels to me like someone stabbed me. It's very painful, and usually I end up whimpering in a little ball with painkillers and a heating pad. The pain usually lasts a few days.

An ultrasound will show if it's a burst cyst. If you're still hurting today, call your doc. Anti-inflamitories will help some.

If it's on your right side, and you still have your appendix, go to the ER now because it could be your appendix rather than an ovarian cyst. I had my appendix removed in 91 because they thought I had appendicitis when I acutally had a burst cyst. These days they can check that before surgery, though.

My first ruptured cyst was enough pain for me to try to rip the sink off of the wall. It was diagnosed through sonogram by my regular GYN after a stupid load of STD tests by the doc-in-the-box at college.

As it was explained to me - the reason it hurts so much is that blood is acidic, and your body cavity isn't expecting a splash of acid in that area.

I have had the kind of pain on both sides in the last few days, that I'm wondering about, but the more severe was on the left side, not the right, and it was kind of stabby, and then it subsided for a while, and it radiates sort of into my hip, and then becomes achey but sharp.. (According to the last ultrasound, the ovary on that side is hiding behind things, too.)

Unfortunately, I can't take anti-inflammatories. I have some ultram, which is nice because it's not narcotic, and avoids some of the most unpleasant side effects, but it does make me sleepy.

That could be a cyst, all right. I sometimes right a mild fever, too. The worst pain is straightening up, for me. I end up walking to the bathroom all hunched over to keep the pain down.

I have a vicodin prescription for migraines and ruptured cysts. It makes it bareble.

I hope it eases up soon!

I was going to ask you about the fever. I've got a low grade fever-not enough to make me feel dizzy, but enough to make me tired.

How long does it usually last?

Not intolerable. Cayne did go to get me some of the stick on heating pads because it's just awkward sometimes to hang out with the ginormous heating pad in the right spot, but I can manage another day or two.

I've only had one...it was in that spot and it was painful enough that I couldn't stand up straight and went into see a doctor right way (which I never do). If they are cysts, there's probably not much that can be done other than painkillers. :(

ugh! Hun, I'm so sorry. I've burst 2 cysts and it hurts like hell. Then the doctor pokes at it. That feels good too.

I agree about getting it checked if you have an appendix. I have mine. It's never been my appendix tho.

I'd call and get it checked. It's good to know what's going on. Especially if there's any chance of an etopic pregnancy.

I hope the pain stops soon and that you get answers.

To me, it felt like being stabbed. Sharp pain that kept going on and on. It was awful.

Any abdominal pain should be checked out pronto. Especially if it hurts that bad, and it's in your lower abdomen. the worst case scenario is an ectopic pregnancy, and if you and Cayne are trying, you DEFINITELY need to rule that out. Go go GO. Please.
