How bad is the drought?

It's finally raining this morning here...for the first time in a long time. It's been so long I almost forgot that people here can't drive. Especially in the rain, even worse in the snow, but we also get glare-delays sometimes.

The drought however...

I've been wearing nothing but sandals (with the exception of Pride, where I wore boots) since May or June. With today's rain, I decided to put on real shoes since I hate the feeling of wet birkenstocks. And I spent a good couple of minutes trying to remember where I might have put the doc maartens. So, it's been so dry that I haven't worn closed-toe shoese in three or so months. Wow.

Is there some kind of grumpyvirus going around? I seem to have caught it last night...that would be before the change in the weather too, so I can't really blame that. I'm just in that sort of eye-clawing out mood. Almost like PMS, only, well...not. It's not lack of breakfast either, since I just ate that.

I hope it's not too contagious.

Today's also the first day in forever that I wore closed-toed shoes.

I've been living in sandals all summer, too. It just doesn't rain out here in the summer (which has been hard for Reil to get used to).

However, I did wear some closed toed shoes the other day. Not because it was wet, but because it was too freaking cold at our house! (56 at noon.)

Can't wait to get some of that east coast fall action, though!

We'll be lucky if we get any of the usually gorgeous autumn leaves...and I was kind of looking forward to that, since I have a nice view of trees from my apartment.

I've actually got plans with aquariumgirl tonight. And my weeknights get even screwier next week when schools start because my programs shift from daytime to afterschool.

I'm sure paths will cross; maybe not until after the holidays though. I'm doing RH at Mom and Dads, and YK with the non-livejournaling girlfriend.
