I agree with you on episode two. But at the same time, it's tv, and watching requires suspension of disbelief, and there's only so far mine will go. And Amanda Peet as a network exec pushes that limit. An actress five years older might not do that as much.
It's not like I'll stop watching; it's Aaron Sorkin and part of the reason to watch is the character development.
