(no subject)

My Dad is the kind of guy who decided that he was going to play Freecell, starting with game #1 and going all the way through until he finished game #32000 or whatever it was. It took quite a while, but he did finish.

He's having surgery in a couple of weeks, and it would be kind of nice for him to have a new game to play while he recovers. He doesn't do well with anything that requires him to compete against a clock...his eye-hand coordination isn't quick enough for that, and he can't handle a mouse very well, although a mouse is better than a keyboard.

I'm looking for game suggestions here...puzzle or card type games that me might enjoy that wouldn't involve speed or ultra precision mousing.

Any thoughts?

he can make the jigsaws easier or harder by changing the shapes. i'm going through doing all the "landscapes and cities" ones, while ayana is doing all of the puzzles of the day, working backwards. she usually does them on the "184 piece crazy" setting and i usually use the "240 piece squares."

I've pointed him to that before...but I'm trying to avoid online stuff. He's not a real internet fan, although he's getting better.

But you did just make me think that buying a new jigsaw puzzle for him to play with while he recuperates would be a good idea...a nice big 2000 or so piece one. Now to find a store that sells the brand he likes....

Someone introduced me to Fool's Errand. It was
originally for the Mac and it's a few years old.
The graphics are a bit hokey, but the play is
excellent. It has a lot of puzzles, of all
sorts, and takes quite a while to get through.
The website is at www.fools-errand.com. I'll see
if I can't track down a binary for a M$ system
for you, if you are interested.

I found Fool's Errand at

machines, and at the creator's website,
www.fools-errand.com for the Mac. I highly
recommend this game for anyone who likes
hard puzzles of sorts. Too bad they don't have an
X version; I'm awaiting VMware and more memory so
I can play it.

interest.

Mahjonng? The Sims?

Mahjohng he's got...I think he can't see the tiles well enough to enjoy it anymore. We all used to play it. I thought about the Sims this morning...but Dad's kind of...obsessive. He might get TOO into it. I may suggest it, since I know my brother has a copy and he's up there with them.

heh, the thing with the Sims is, after awhile, it gets REALLY boring, because you can only do so much with it. unless you start to download extra things to add-on to the game.

Bejewelled on untimed mode. It's addictive and available in all sorts of formats. I've got it on my Handspring.
