Gamer-Nerds Questions

I bought a Nintendo DS Lite today-Cayne, and others, have suggested that I would like the kinds of games available for it. He also thinks I need a Nintendog. But I have questions.
Right now, my game purchases will include (in the next day or two) Cooking Mama, and probably something like Brain Age or Sudoku or something similar. What else would you suggest? I like puzzle type games, Tetris, and the like. I play a lot of games at Pogo. I've never really cared for the Pokemon games.
Also, does the Nintendog require daily attention? How much time? Is it true that they run away if you don't spend enough time with them? What can you tell me about the game?

If I leave my Nintendogs alone for more than 12 hours or so, they are starving and parched. That makes me sad :(

This adds something like 10-15 minutes onto a walk if you stay in the park for the maximum time. Also you'll want to visit the Discount Shops in the town, as they can be considerably cheaper than the at-home shopping, and they have items you can't buy at home.
There are always ways to cheat by changing the time on the DS clock - this is actually a pretty good way of saving money in Nintendogs if you're "behind" and don't like the idea of the virtual pet being starving. Simply feed & water the dog then set the clock 23 hours later, boot up the game and save, and repeat. Nintendogs has some way of telling how much time has elapsed since you last fed the dog, but it doesn't necessarily relate that to the real clock. Um, it's hard to explain. Put it this way - if you REALLY leave the game for 23 hours, the dog will be starving - but if you simply set the clock forward 23 hours immediately after playing, it'll be fine.
Another game you might want is Animal Crossing Wild World, which is one of my obsessions. The microsite does a fairly good job of explaining how it works. Here's a player's diary of the game. I was pretty sure there's a diary or journal on nintendo.com, but I can't find it now.

Date: 2006-12-13 12:33 am (UTC)I love nintendogs and think it's great fun, but I don't play it more than once a week or so anymore. My dogs haven't run away though, even though I know they are supposed to. When I turn it on I always have to feed/water/bathe them. I think it's a pretty fun game!
I have tetris, and love that I can play it on the wifi with other people, even when I'm really by myself. There are lots of variations and other little mini games in it so it's pretty fun.
I also have Animal Crossing: Wild World, Sims 2 Pets, Kirby Canvas Curse, Super Mario 64 DS, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Need for Speed...I think a few more, but I can't remember now. Let me know if you want to know about any of those.

Date: 2006-12-14 08:07 am (UTC)ANd then it occurred to me. I sent out all my cards, but didn't remember sending one to y'all. Look in my address book. Nada. Look in my email, nada.
I've managed to cleverly dispose of any trace of the conversation, including the address. Sigh.
*grovel?*
