I used "baby" and "politically expedient" in the same conversation today. Woah.

The wrap party for NASCAR 2009 which sucked [livejournal.com profile] zedrikcayne life away for the last month or six weeks of my pregnancy is next week. RSVP deadline was today. Partners/spouses/Significant Others are generally welcomed at these events. I went to last year's party...it was right after we found out I was pregnant.

So he forwarded me the e-mail and asked if I wanted to go. Well yes, I do. They're playing Rockband and the location is pleasant and the drinks are good, etc. But, it's also not a place to take the baby. It's at a bar.

I pointed out that it's not really a place to take the baby, although we could pop her in the sling and I could go, and he said he didn't want to go without me, but that in fact, it's not a place to take the baby. He said "But I don't want to go without you." I pointed out that it's "politically expedient" for him to go...he really should be there...it's playing the career game. He said he'll go and make an early exit.

Fair enough...right?

LOL...its funny how different conversations become when you have a child.

I'm debating on whether or not to tell the hubby that your hubby was a developer for the game, I think he'd drool! LOL He doesn't play many games, but I know thats one we will probably end up getting. How cool to know he had a hand in it!

Unless she's a fussy baby, heck, I'd bring her, but I'd go in separate cars. You can get away with a lot with a newborn that you can't once they're a couple months old.

I fear you might end up as a bad quote from "Sweet Alabama." "You have a baby! In a bar!"

I actually saw a baby in a bar here in Boston a few weeks ago, and immediately quoted that to the person I was with. :)

We have smoke-free NY, so a bar isn't a problem. But the noise level can be the issue. Totally understandable. I've had J go to a few things by himself, or I've brought Jonah to the reception/cocktail hour before it was late. Worked out pretty well.
