I keep saying I'm not going to let the sniper affect me...but now, programs are getting cancelled because they're part of after school activities. I know that's all beyond my control but it makes me grumpy. I've got work to do.

it's weird, i'm not really scared, but in the back of my mind there's this little voice saying "gee, hope i don't get shot today". sort of like the voice that says "gee, hope i don't get fired today" or "gee, hope that i get all my work done today."

it's weird. it's like an item on a to-do list.

I went to the bank at lunch, and thought, while walking accross the parking lot, "Gee, this is a perfectly open place, maybe I'd have been better off going to the drive up ATM near my house. And I also thought, "Gee, I better put gas in the car soon..."

Mom's been worried about this whole sniper business so I make a point of calling after each murder to tell her, "I didn't get shot today."

Not that Mom would ever say this, but the cynical part of my brain always replies with: "Try harder."

I call after each one too and let them know I'm okay. I said to my mother last night that I think I call as much to reassure myself that I'm being careful enough as I do to ensure them that I'm fine. Pardon the language, but the only thing I can say about it is, "that's fucked up."

I would think it's hard to *not* let the sniper affect you. I know I'd be letting the situation affect me if I lived there.

As it is, I've spent two commutes white-knuckling the steering wheel, wanting desperately to get to work to see if CNN knows the name of the latest victim, and if not, to do an LJ "roll call." I have many friends in that area, including yourself, and I'm very concerned for the safety of all of you!

I just want them to find this sick human being...if he has any shred of *humanity* left to even be able to call him a human being.

I'm sorry it's disrupting your life, even as you're trying not to let it disrupt your life. As the shootings continue I think it's getting harder and harder for organizations like schools to not change their patterns or cancel their activities...:(

It's not nice to make people laugh that hard at work.
Between the man with all the little voices, and Laria's one snippy voice I'm really happy that my next door neighbors appear to be out of the office today.

I'm glad everyone is still alive. They should stay that way.
