One of the things that is worrying me about the storm (Hurricane or Tropical Storm Fay) hitting here is that I have all kinds of wonderful donated breast milk in the freezer and I don't want it to melt.

We've got stuff outside tied down, we've got the usual supplies and batteries, and we bought some disposable diapers last night so that if we've got no power, she'll still have a clean tushie.

They're expecting tropical storm force winds, rain, possible tornadoes, etc. where I live. If I disappear for a few days, it's cause we've got no power.

Pack any open space in the freezer with ice (or bags of water to freeze into ice). It will help the freezer stay cool in the event of a power outage and can actually keep it cool for some time.

Yeah, I was going to suggest the same.

Can you pick up any dry ice anywhere? I imagine it'd be tough to find, but might be worth a shot.

See if any of your neighbors have a generator and if you get in a big bind if you can snag a couple hours a day. We always shared ours with people in need. Also, RVs have generators, so you could ask anyone with an RV too.

If it were me I might go ahead and pack in as many containers of water into the freezer as there is empty space.
