Just heard the sonic boom that re-entry of the Space Shuttle Discovery. I'm not a fan of living in Florida, but the proximity to the space program is one of the few pluses.

I watched the landing live on NASA TV—the first landing I've watched in years. I'm amused that instead of the astronauts just walking down a stairway from the hatch onto the tarmac like they used to (probably because some astronauts are now coming back from long-duration space station missions), they now board a "Crew Transport Vehicle"... which is a modified Mobile Lounge that NASA acquired from Dulles Airport.

Got the word from daltong's Dad that they heard it in Ocala too.

Though in all fairness he is always on the look out for that and launches since
he is retired from NASA.
