Yesterday, Naomi picked up a book called "That's Not My Dragon"-it's an Usborne touchy-feely book. She sat down with it, opened it, said "aaaah-gon" and pet the appropriate part of the page. And she turned the page and did the same thing.

I made no assumption that she had any idea what she was talking about, or that "aaaaah-gon" actually meant "Dragon."

But she just did it again. So maybe "aaaah-gon" means "dragon" and she does know there's a dragon in the book. I don't have any other dragons around for her to identify though, so it's a bit hard to test the theory.

Google-image a cartoon dragon and either see how she responds to the screen or a print-out of it?

Show her an Internet dragon and see if she identifies it. She's at the stage where she'll start to identify things in books actively though! Smart kiddo.

She identifies Cookie Monster in a book that someone gave her with "Ookie" but doesn't connect that with any other Cookie Monster images. And she has another book called "That's Not My Kitten" which is full of cats, but those don't get the same response as the actual cat.

It's very interesting. We're also in the "You must read me this book many times in a row and I'll turn the pages randomly while you do it."

You would be more than welcome. We'd love to see you-unfortunately, our northeast tour this summer is taking us west of you by many miles, and an early December due date makes a mid-January trip to Boston a less than wise idea.

Do you know how much fun the child would have with you? A dragon! And a beard! Oh my goodness she'd be over the moon. (And I would, too.)
