First Dance Recital

We had our first dance recital today, and so I had to share...



Naomi was terrific-two of the girls panicked and ran off the stage mid-performance, another stood on stage and looked frightened, and Naomi and two other girls actually danced. I was proud and impressed and thrilled and sad all at once. Adorable







I found the whole experience pretty incredible...we arrived, I turned her over to the "back stage Mom"-the children sit at the back of the auditorium through the performance and get to actually watch the rest of the show, which is nice. And I asked her to make sure she listened extra well today to the back stage Moms (two parents from her dance class) and I went and sat in the auditorium. I watched Naomi's class, I watched the older girls and I found the whole thing bittersweet...there was a real feeling of separation from her today, of letting her take steps away from me. She did something wonderful all on her own and it was a beautiful thing.

We didn't shoot our own video-we sat far enough back that if Miriam had kicked up a fuss we weren't going to bother too many people and one of us could make an easy escape with her. I did order the DVD that the studio puts together, which I will get when it's finished. I promise, I'll share it.

Fantastic! She was fearless, and wanted to do it again. We decided to also put her in tap this summer.

Terrific! Naomi's going to do a summer class (they call it Tiny Tots, it's a mixed movement class-some dance and some tumbling,) and we'll see at the end of the summer if she's ready to move up to the Pre-K 1 class, which will include a little tap as well.
