geminigirl | Things that have pissed me off online, the Trayvon Martin edition

A discussion else-net of the Trayvon Martin case included the comment from a friend of a friend, "Besides, how does a Hispanic end up with a name like Zimmerman?" When that FOAF (and I'm not exactly sure I'd even call her a friend, considering how much she irritates me) was called out on the racism in his statement, he didn't seem to get it. Because you know, all Hispanic people(which is how George Zimmerman has been described in the media) have names like Lopez or Rivera or Hernandez or something like that.

(For those who don't know Florida geography, Sanford, FL where this happened isn't far from us at all, so this has been on our local radar for a while. We regularly go over to Sanford for shopping and play dates and such.)
