Owie Drugs
Nov. 20th, 2002 11:16 pmSo Friday night I did something and caused an as yet undiagnosed beyoned "It's soft tissue-ligament, tendon, muscle" injury. It was so painful on Friday night that breathing became difficult, and so I went to the urgent care center, as instructed by my health insurance.
The doctor poked at me, asked me some questions, took x-rays and well...that was that. She couldn't find anything beyond "soft tissue" and said "Here are some drugs, take them, fill the prescription tomorrow and see your doctor on Tuesday."
And so I did. She gave me a muscle relaxant (which I haven't yet taken), tylenol with codeine, which I did take and a script for percocet.
The tylenol with codeine leaves me feeling hungover in the morning. And it only works for two hours or so. And I can't take it during the day-it makes me sleepy. Which means I can't drive. The percocet turned me into a total zombie...I couldn't concentrate and was brainfogged.
I saw my doctor yesterday. I asked her for something not narcotic for the pain. Since I'm allergic to ibuprofen,
she couldn't give me motrin...or any other anti-inflammatory. And I had to fight her to get something not narcotic. I'm not comfortable taking narcotics for ten days-the length of time between when this happened and when I see the physical therapist next week.
I go in there, worrying that they'll think I'm drug seeking. They're pushing narcotics. I don't get it.
