I saw a personal ad in a mainstream newspaper once that said "I like watersports and skat". This was a few weeks after The Skatman had been in the charts with his song "Skat something or other". So I did genuinely wonder whether he meant that he liked diving and skat music, or if it was a dodgy reference that had completely gone under the radar of the people typesetting the ads. And I wondered whether he would get people responding who had interpreted his ad the other way. I felt like ringing up and leaving a message to explain it to him if he didn't know, but at UK Premium Rate costs, I couldn't be bothered to spend £3 to tell a complete stranger his ad had kinky connotations.
