Saturday. Work. Suck
Mar. 15th, 2003 10:31 amYet again, we're trainng peer educators on a Saturday. This alone is not unusual.
I am however more irritated than usual about this.
Apparently "drugs eat you brain."
And LSD makes you mentally ill "right away"
At 20 after 8 this morning, my boss called me. "I'm leaving now. Can you pick up the donuts and give the pre-survey?"
Sure. Fine. I'll do that. But in the meantime, tell me what I have to present today? Because I need to prepare for what I'm doing...right? I mean, it's not like I might want to have materials ready, or handouts or anything.
Oh, and apparently, being there at nine AM means "show up at 9:30 or later on..."
Even though the aforementioned boss told me at 8:20 when I spoke to her that she wanted to finish early. Because she has to go to a baby shower.
We're still on the first part of training. It's nearly 11 AM. We'll see how early we finish.

Gosh, that explains a lot! *duck*
Really, I'm concerned that lying to kids by hyping (real) dangers of drug use into (completely fabricated) hysteria actually does nothing to discourage people from using them, and seriously damages the credibility of the real warnings in there. IOW, it probably makes the problem worse.
Note: I'm not saying you're doing this - just that there's so much of it going around.
It's like the time when I was at school, a few months after my beloved role model of a grandfather had died of the consequences of alcoholism, that our school principal stood up and told us all confidently that alcoholism was all the alcoholic's fault, and they should just have some moral fiber.
*grrr*
Okay, that's getting rambly.
