With Imagine coming up for work, and the state of my closet, poor (or at least, not filled with things that would be appropriate for this event) I decided some shopping was in order. So,
geekchick, C. and I treked to the wilds of Maryland (okay, so Montgomery Mall) to check out what Torrid had to offer.
I was in a growly mood, absolutely convinced that I wouldn't find anything, and just not in the frame of mind to go shopping. This wasn't helped by the difficulty parking at the mall either. But I go in, find my way to the store and poke around for a few minutes, while I wait. I ended up with quite a pile of stuff in the dressing room...surprisingly enough. It was a major flashback to 80's fashion, too...just being in the store. After much trying on, and rejecting, I managed to find a cute dress-black with white polkadots. But oops, it's got little tiny straps, no sleeves, which means that I can't wear it without something to cover my arms. The very clever salesdrone (who was entertaining) found a stack of sweaters, but the first one I tried was adorable...black sweater with little fuzzy red dice patches on the chest. Adorable. And I should be able to wear it wish shoes I own. Time to find accessiories, and of course get the dress in wearable state. In other words, shorten it a bit and get rid of the stupid tulle ruffle on the bottom. Really. And, the outfit was about what I had wanted to spend. Always a bonus. Plus I snagged a cute off the shoulder top, and a pair of shiny pajama bottoms on the clearance rack.
And, the Torrid perfume smelled yummy-convenient, since the bottle of perfume I'd been wearing is just about gone. It's in a purple coffin shaped bottle, too which is cute.
Then snack, and wandering through the mall. C. left us to take care of his car, but as
geekchick and I wandered in his general direction, we passed the Build a Bear Workshop and as we stood and chatted outside for a few minutes, and she told me about her previous experience making a bear, she got this evil twinkle and said "come on, I'll buy you a bear."
Uh-oh. This means decisions. I swear, my brain melted. But I came home with this bear who I named "Simon." He's wearing a little white tank top, denim shorts, a little kerchify thing and a denim backpack. He might acquire nipple rings sometime soon, if I can find the right earings.
geekchick went Monkey Style! with a Kung Fu look. Just remeber Monkey Style is strong. I did resist the temptation to put sound in the bear-to make him meow...it would have been fun to torment Beta with.
This bear thing took quite a while...too many choice.
Then, more mall wandering, some ice cream and we were done. Bears and clothes. Not a bad Saturday.
