I always know spring is winding down when I get a frantic e-mail from my mother about picking out graduation gifts for her graduating seniors. I've been tasked with this for years...I was a college student so I could pick out good stuff. But it's always been several students graduating at once, which meant a smaller budget, and getting them all the same things. (Books-I'd get some kind of real world post college survival guide thing, and a copy of some other meaningful book...lately it's been "The Little Prince")

This year, she's got only one senior graduating...and the girl has worked for Mom for three years...which means the gift needs to be a little nicer, a little more special and still in Mom's hands by next Wednesday. And I'm totally stumped.

And not to steal [livejournal.com profile] bitty's thunder or anything, but there's a cookies and milk meet the candidates night being hosted by one of my co-workers. She's asked if I could contribute some cookies for it...seeing as my co-workers are usually the beneficiaries of my kitchen experiments. I was fine with that; I offered two batches of cookies-chocolate rasberry and the lemony sugar cookies. So today she stops me and asks if I'd mind instead of doing both of those for the meet the candidates night, could I use a special cookie cutter and make the sugar cookies for the American Idol fundraiser? I have to make dog biscut shaped cookies. But hey, for a good candidate, why not?

Sounds like you've got a plan all ready, but another option is to go to a bead shop and string her a really pretty necklace. $35 would buy some good beads.

I was reading stuff on the Chronic Health community and saw your cute little icon! That's exactly the same cat that I have! My Zoey looks just like that...very cool.
