I'm fascinated by the meme that's going around about how you became aware of someone's existence, and when you actually met them in person. Of the people on my friend's lists, some I have very vivid memories of meetings and some, far fuzzier memories of meeting. I'm wondering why my first interactions with some people are so vividly etched in my mind, and others much fuzzier-it has very little to do with how the person has impacted my life though.

If you do want to share how you became aware of me, and where/when we first met, go ahead.

Something they mentioned in my *ahem* psych class was that the surrounding events often enhance our memories. If you were really excited about meeting them, or having a really fun time, or it was at a party or other emotionally-charged event, that might explain it.

Then again, there are people that I've been told I met for the first time in situations like that but I still don't farkin' remember. *L*

Right, I know all that about situational memories and all that, but what I don't get is why I have no recollection of meeting say, bitty who I most likely met at a party or something, or of melebeth who I nearly got into a fight with at this party I met her at apparently.

It doesn't matter, cause I love them.

Yeah, I've noticed that, too. I think part of it for me is that I don't make friends all that easily. Someone's generally in my social circle for a couple of years before I really consider them friends. By that time, I've frequently forgotten where/how I first met them.

*nod* I know I met most of the NoVas at one of two events...either at the Fudruckers Foo or at a party at melaniesuzanne's place. So it's easy to remember which ones I didn't meet there (melebeth and rdhdsnippet.)

Some people stick and some don't.

I was just clearing email out of my inbox and realized I never answered this part. (Boot to the head!) That matches my memory of things, too. I remember seeing you at the Dim Sum (which I was late to).
