How bad is the drought?

It's finally raining this morning here...for the first time in a long time. It's been so long I almost forgot that people here can't drive. Especially in the rain, even worse in the snow, but we also get glare-delays sometimes.

The drought however...

I've been wearing nothing but sandals (with the exception of Pride, where I wore boots) since May or June. With today's rain, I decided to put on real shoes since I hate the feeling of wet birkenstocks. And I spent a good couple of minutes trying to remember where I might have put the doc maartens. So, it's been so dry that I haven't worn closed-toe shoese in three or so months. Wow.

Is there some kind of grumpyvirus going around? I seem to have caught it last night...that would be before the change in the weather too, so I can't really blame that. I'm just in that sort of eye-clawing out mood. Almost like PMS, only, well...not. It's not lack of breakfast either, since I just ate that.

I hope it's not too contagious.

My boss is out today (this was anticipated-she wasn't well yesterday and was having some family stuff going on) and now I've just been asked to sit in on a meeting with the executive director in her stead. (This is okay, although it does induce a bit of nerves.) But, I figured, I'd throw my ratty jeans on (the ones I really shouldn't wear to work, but did anyway today) because my boss is out, and I've got a group this afternoon. Blech. Now I have to go to reasonably important meeting and I look like a scrub.

Yeep! Redux

That meeting I was "Yeeping" about earlier...the one I sat in on because my boss wasn't here...

Well...I got one of those nerve wracking stress inducing kinds of projects out of it. The kind of thing that makes me step back and say "They want me to do WHAT?" not because it's out of line but because they actually think I'm capable of doing it...and I'm not so sure.
