Feb. 19th, 2004 01:38 pmSo the other day, when word of my engagement to
zedrikcayne started to spread throughout the office, J. the assistant department head and person who asked "when are they going to San Francisco," decided to announce it rather suddenly to our executive director.
He pauses in the hallway, turns around and comes back to where I'm standing, talking to another co-worker. He then says to me, "Congratualations." I thank him, and he proceeds with "So who's the lucky...(long pause) individual?" I explain the situation. I mentioned that
aquariumgirl is very happy. He looks at me again, and asks, "Do you have to work hard at being this (long pause) radical?" I replied, "Nope. That's just the way I am.
In other news, the hated, dreaded parental notification bill was killed in committee this year, which means that yesterday's lobbying in Richmond was much easier. Almost all budget amendments, except for the bill that would make infecting someone with HIV a felony. (Right now, if it's done deliberatly, with intent to harm, it's a felony. This would make it a felony for any person who knows that he/she is infected with HIV to infect anyone, whether accidentally or on purpose.)
And
zedrikcayne's apartment hunting. It was cute how we both ooohed and ahhed over the one place with a sunroom. I'm panicked, he's sane. This is a good thing.
