Jan. 21st, 2005 11:46 pmThe couch saga...
khatru's husband's parent's neighbor (woo, say that again) was going into a seniors home of some sort. His house is being sold, and we were offered a couch. (This is good cause despite our house having two couches, neither of them belongs to us.) So, today was the day we had to pick it up, as the closing is tomorrow. Cayne recruited a co-worker to help him move the couch, I rented us a truck, and all was copacetic, I thought. Until I got a call from Cayne when it was time for him to leave the office (the couch had to be moved mid-day) that he'd left his lights on and had to wait for a jumpstart. So I point out that they could take his co-worker's car. "Oh, we didn't even think of that." Okay, sure whatever. So off they go, so I think, and I set off shortly thereafter to meet them at the rental place. I arrive, and wait, and wait, and they don't show up, and they don't show up. And finally I call. They're lost, in Montclair somewhere, and they'll be there in ten minutes. I know it's more than ten minutes, but fine, whatever. Finally all is well, and they pick up the couch and bring it back to the house. So now I have an ugly couch, with an ugly slipcover, but at least it's a couch. Ahhh, decorating in early attic.
The snow:
There are blizzard warnings up around here, and we're hearing ten to twenty inches of snow, or twelve to sixteen, depending on you listen to. Either way, a lot of snow. The grocery store was far less of a madhouse than I anticipated, and we stocked up on some goodies, and necessities for the snow, and we're well prepared for the weekend. Just hope that our power stays on for the weekend. The snow however, has made me glad that we're not in Boston.
