And You Drink Them Both Up
Mar. 10th, 2010 06:35 pmI have a "Lime in the Coconut" earworm-the Kermit the Frog version. I was bouncing Miri and singing to her, which made both of us smile. It was nice.
Naomi is still sick. Fever is broken it seems, but she's left with a runny nose and a wet cough. I'm not sure whether to be concerned about the cough or not...it's the cough I get when I'm about to get bronchitis, but since this is her first cold and first cough (nearly 23 months-pretty impressive) I'm not really sure how much worry to give the cough. She's not coughing up anything, it's loose, wet cough. She's behaving normally, a little whiny, refused to nap today but sleeping fine at night, so I'm just watching and waiting and in between "hrm, need to do something" and "let it run it's course."
Made some midwife suggestions to a colleague of Cayne's today-guy from the UK and his wife, first baby. I'm guessing since they're from the UK, midwives aren't anything unusual to them, nor is homebirth. Gave them Kelli's name, and two other names just in case they would rather go the CNM/hospital birth route.
Feeling the pangs of Mama Guilt still. Miri doesn't have a nickame like Naomi, who has been called Nacho or Nacho Beans since she was very tiny. (Nacho comes from Naomi Channah-my sister gave her the nickname as soon as she saw the name written down. It's not just the lack of nickname though, it's also the fact that I can interact with her and be involved with her so much more so than I could with Naomi at this point. I don't want the kids to think I love Miriam more, because I don't. But it sometimes feels like that when I think about how awful I was during Naomi's first few months.
In happier news, Naomi has learned the words "Pants" "shirt" and "chaussettes" this week. She also surprised me with the word "Frog" recently. She has a word for "monkey" but I'm not sure exactly what it is yet. And she knows the word "kitty" of course, and "bird" as well as "sheep" and "horse". My favorite of her animals is "cow" because whenever she says "cow" it's accompanied by the most adorable face as she says "mooooo." It's more like "cow Mooooooo." She counted to eight today. She just said "bye bye" to a toy car and put it in a box, which she closed."
And for your amusement...the text message exchanged between me and my sister earlier today upon hearing of Corey Haim's death:
Me to her: "Your favorite Corey, Corey Haim is dead."
Her to me: "Yeah, I heard. I guess I'll just have to Dream a Little Dream of him."
And now, back to maternal duties. Got a diaper that needs changing and a baby that needs feeding and a toddler who needs dinner.
