I am tired of getting one set of instructions from my boss, and then when she finds out she should be doing something different, being told I don't follow her directions.

Because really, how often would I ignore my bosses instructions?

(And, she just found out she's been tracking something wrong for the entire project...I'm hoping she doesn't try to pin that one on me too, beccause I had nothing to do with it.)

I can somewhat identify with part of your situation except my boss does admit it if she makes an error in her instructions. She'll give an assignment with a due date that is usually several days before the actual due date. I usually like to complete an assignment/project as soon as possible. However, on several occasions she has given faulty directions. So, I've had to adapt on this job and not start an assignment or project until close to the due date. I hate doing that but it has reduced my frustration level. But relieving frustration by having the stress of meeting a quickly approaching deadline is not that great of a trade-off.
