Apr. 27th, 2004 02:45 pmIt's been a fairly consistent stream of people in and out of A's (department head) office today...he's meeting one on one with us about our job security. With funding running out, each of us is feeling the uncertainty, although some have more security than others, depending on grant cycles, and such. I'd be a lot more worried if I hadn't planned on departing anyway.
(For the record, I met with him this morning, and it's weird from both sides-me because I'm leaving and it's obviously public knowledge but also because there isn't a definite timeline for it, and him because funding for my position runs out in the fall, and so they know I'm gone. They won't fill my position if I do leave, until they know what the funding will look like for next year. What we agreed is that I'd be upfront about my job search, and work with them to find a good terminating point if I found something, but that I'd just continue to schedule as I have, and stick to more established sites who are likely to be a bit easier to work with if the facillitator (me) has to leave mid-group, but that they'll keep me around until there's no more funding for me.)
