Suck.

To fix that, I generally take valerian and ibuprofen, lie on my tummy, and breathe as deeply and slowly as I can. I bet your formula is completely different, and works about as well. :-/

I used to have that problem really badly, to the point where I had constant insomnia. Eventually, I learned how to relax my body, and find something interesting to think about that had nothing to do with the sleep stress. It still works, though I can't explain exactly how. I also try meditating sometimes, which most often sends me to sleep. :]

Yes, I get into that cycle sometimes. Particularly when lack of sleep affects my work which is an extra source of stree which prevents...

I avoid popping pills as much as possible (probably past the point of good sense, eg not taking an analgesic for a headache because it's "not bad enough"), but I did find prescribed sleeping tablets worked wonders. Far from getting addicted, I find that when I get into this sleep v stress cycle, just taking them for 1 or 2 nights is enough to break the cycle - after just a bit of really good sleep, I perform better during the day and so can sleep more easily. I think it's breaking the cycle that's the important thing, however you do it.

Ugh! What a vicious cycle. I hope you can get some sleep tonight.
