geminigirlAs much as I'm stressing over this weekend with my family, I've just found out that my friend Kristin will be in town visiting her family as well.
I haven't seen Kristin in about four and a half years...since she left to go to school in Olympia, WA.
Kristin dated my friend Brooke, while Brooke and I were in grad school together. Brooke was my confidant and writing partner throughout. (Our sub-speciality required a great deal of work, almost everything in fact, to be done in pairs or small groups. When you're a group of 11, one of whom has a substance abuse problem, you tend to work with the same person/people a lot. Brooke and I did nearly every project together.) Anyway, after Kristin left to finish school on the west coast (at the beginning of our last semester in school) Brooke met another woman (also named Kristin) and eventually did some really not very nice things, and broke up with Kristin the first, in favor of a relationship with Kristin the second.
Anyway, I haven't seen Kristin since she left for Washington, and she'll be at her parents this weekend. So she gets to meet Cayne, and I get to meet her partner Laurie all at once.
Yay!
(Plus, I think I may have headed Mom off about the wedding dress shopping on Monday.)
