Beta Stories
Jun. 18th, 2004 11:07 amSince it's been a while since we had Beta stories, here are a couple of his latest tricks...
The heat and high humidity has made the smoke alarm in my apartment hypersensitive-it goes off sometimes when I'm showering. Beta doesn't like the noise...so he'll crouch on the floor, directly underneath the smoke alarm, and look up at it and hiss. I'd never heard him hiss before this. It's kind of cute, the way he flattens himself out.
I was in the bathroom the other day, applying some talcum powder. Beta happened to get underneath, when it was in transit from my hand to my body, and got bits of powder splattered on him. He slunk off, doing a sort of belly-crawl type thing, as if he were underneat something. Very silly.
Yesterday, as I was coming in, Beta slipped out the door. Once in a while, he does this, and usually I see him when he does and chase him back inside. (He'll frequently meet me at the door in the evenings when I come home from work. It's a very uncatlike thing to do, but it is rather charming.) I didn't see him slip out, and let the door close, and called him. I walked into the apartment, put my things down, and looked around. I heard pitiful mewling from outside my door, opened it and there, slunk down about as low as he could be, and obviously scared, was Beta. This entire ordeal took less than two minutes, and there was no one out in the hall. I opened the door, he came back into the house, and hid under my skirt. And refused to come out from underneath it until I took it off, and picked him up. Poor kitty.

Date: 2004-06-18 03:52 pm (UTC)He does the same thing every time he gets outside of the apartment for more than a few seconds. He desperately wants out of the house...until he's actually outside. Then he is freaked out and wants to tell mom all about his big adventure. This cat was a mostly outdoor cat for the first 10 years of his little life and now can't stand to be in the hallway for more than 30 seconds.

Date: 2004-06-18 04:08 pm (UTC)I'm kinda dykey when it comes to my shoes. I wear birkenstocks and doc martens most of the time. My dream shoe would be doc martens under my dress, but I think my Mom would kill me. I did however find the white ones, with the light colored soles, just in case I decide to do that.

If you still want to look, tell me the parameters. I'm in love with certain heel styles -- most of my heels are square or rectangular stilleto heels. If you are not partial to either of these, you should indicate a heel style that you enjoy.

Date: 2004-06-18 05:15 pm (UTC)I like the heel on the one you pointed me at earlier...if I'm going to be on my feet all day in it, I want a not too high, solid heel. The one you pointed at earlier was just about perfect.

The second shoes are cute; I own a pair that's similar-they've got black beading. It's too bad they only come in black.
I suspect there will be a rather frustrating quest and many prayers to the shopping gods when it comes to finding the wedding shoes.
