While there has to be some room left for people of different cultures... that kind of behavior on their part is just plain stupid. They should keep in mind, they're in the land of the (supposedly) free after all.
Wanker is a word I've used for at least fifteen years...but I did learn it from a bunch of Brits at my summer camp. Then again, I've heard it from USA-ians for a while. It's just a great word.
Or the bi person! (though she did use the word "gay" in her post, to be fair -- I know her pretty well on and offline, and one reason she knows that the restaurant wouldn't have done the same for a m/f couple is that she's been cuddly there with male partners, too.
That said, she's just a cuddly person. She and I have held hands, if I recall correctly, and we aren't sweeties.
That said, somewhere in the myriad posts I read about it, someone made a good point. It doesn't matter if they were sweeties or not. That a restaurant would try to tell people where they can sit is not right (in most cases-if someone is blocking an aisle or pathway, or causing a fire hazard, that's a different situation.) But to tell them that they're making other diners uncomfortable...that's just not right.
