Best response to comments about how allowing same sex couples to marry would lead to things like marriage between a man and his dog:

"Only a demented crackpot would think that."

I have no idea who said it, I over heard it on the 11 PM news. But it's such a New York thing to say. And it's so true.

We had a student debate on same sex marriage last fall and one student actually had the gall to say that same sex marriage could lead to people wanting to marry dogs. I wanted to beat the shit out of her, and I'm a pacifist.

It was a prominent Republican politician, if memory serves it was Santorum (R-Penn) who said it, that same-sex marriage would lead to polygamy and people marrying dogs.

I do recall hearing it from him first, but this was someone they interviewed on the local 11 PM news broadcast.

Though I'm sure that many people share the same sentiment, sadly enough.
