Holy Cow...

Last night at twenty past eight, I get a call from my mother that I should change the bridesmaid dress I chose for the wedding. Her reasons sounded wacky, but until I actually go see the dress again, I won't know for sure. Still, after the initial panic, it led to three hours of trying to find some alternatives that would work. And I was supposed to go look at one of them today (as well as the dress we were about to order.)

And then...

We got about five inches of snow last night/this morning. I did an initial round of shoveling, and Cayne did a second this morning. As he was shoveling, the snowplow came by. And the snowplow took out our phone line-ripped it from both the house and junction box, and dragged it down the street, hitting him with the cable in the process. The plow also managed to take down the cable and phone lines next door. I don't know if the plow took down anything else on the street. Needless to say, I was on the phone with public works moments after. Cayne seems to be okay, but is going to get checked out on the way to work. The phone company is going to eventually come and fix the wire...when I spoke to the phone company they were apologetic, for sure, but explained that they were making appointments for Monday but would try as hard as they could to get here today and fix it. I'm not holiding my breath, but it will all be okay.

In the meantime, if you're trying to reach us, I'd suggest calling my cell or Cayne's cell. If you don't have the number, and expect that you might need it, email me.

Eeeep!!

City-owned snow plow? I'd call and yell! even if it's not city-owned, if they were providing the service, they should take care of it.

Glad he's OK, but, yeah, I'd have him get checked out, too.

Sheesh.

*shiver* I don't even want to think about what would have happened if it had been power lines.

Glad to see the city is on top of it. Sometimes local government can be a real pain about stuff like this.

One of my bridesmaids just found out she is pregnant. She's going to be huge at the wedding! And the dresses are like this:

What about yours?

That's too funny! Not for you, I'm sure, but from the outside, it sounds just like something on a sitcom!

"These dresses are too shiny," right before you order them.

I'm sure it will all turn out, though. One good thing is that everyone everywhere seems to go through inordinate amounts of stress while planning their wedding, but it always does seem to turn out to be a wonderful day, in spite of it all.

My bridesmaids dresses were princess waisted, and I found out well after we picked them out that 2 of my bridesmaids were pregnant. They were 7.5 and 8 months at the wedding.

We just let them out. It really didn't look that bad. You might be able to get by with just loosening the lacing, especially if she carries low.

How pregnant will she be by the wedding?

ey-yi-yi! Yeah, that dress might still work, but another one might be better. I hope she doesn't deliver early!

I know, me too! She was worried about not being able to be there at all, and thought she was going to have to drop out of the bridal party. But I know she really, really, really wants to be in it. She's never been in a bridal party, and she was so, so, so excited about my asking her. So when she told me she was pregnant, I told her not to worry. If she can't make it, she can't make it. But if she can make it, she's definitely not going to get out of being a bridesmaid that easily! She was relieved, especially when I promised her to change the dresses. Everyone is going to wear the same colour, but I'm going to let them pick out their own dresses. How else could a pregnant woman, a skinny 13-year-old, and the rest of my assorted-shaped girls all look right together?

Many hugs, and glad that Cayne is ok. How scary!

And your Mom can stop driving you up the wall about the wedding any time now...
