Messy Messy Messy
Feb. 25th, 2005 09:54 amHoly Cow...
Last night at twenty past eight, I get a call from my mother that I should change the bridesmaid dress I chose for the wedding. Her reasons sounded wacky, but until I actually go see the dress again, I won't know for sure. Still, after the initial panic, it led to three hours of trying to find some alternatives that would work. And I was supposed to go look at one of them today (as well as the dress we were about to order.)
And then...
We got about five inches of snow last night/this morning. I did an initial round of shoveling, and Cayne did a second this morning. As he was shoveling, the snowplow came by. And the snowplow took out our phone line-ripped it from both the house and junction box, and dragged it down the street, hitting him with the cable in the process. The plow also managed to take down the cable and phone lines next door. I don't know if the plow took down anything else on the street. Needless to say, I was on the phone with public works moments after. Cayne seems to be okay, but is going to get checked out on the way to work. The phone company is going to eventually come and fix the wire...when I spoke to the phone company they were apologetic, for sure, but explained that they were making appointments for Monday but would try as hard as they could to get here today and fix it. I'm not holiding my breath, but it will all be okay.
In the meantime, if you're trying to reach us, I'd suggest calling my cell or Cayne's cell. If you don't have the number, and expect that you might need it, email me.

Date: 2005-02-25 03:16 pm (UTC)City-owned snow plow? I'd call and yell! even if it's not city-owned, if they were providing the service, they should take care of it.
Glad he's OK, but, yeah, I'd have him get checked out, too.
Sheesh.

Date: 2005-02-25 03:21 pm (UTC)There was some minor damage to his jacket...fortunately he was wearing his leather jacket, and it probably did help prevent him from getting hurt badly. If I'd been standing where he had, I'd have very likely got hit in the face or head somewhere.
I'm just glad it wasn't power lines.

Date: 2005-02-25 04:10 pm (UTC)"These dresses are too shiny," right before you order them.
I'm sure it will all turn out, though. One good thing is that everyone everywhere seems to go through inordinate amounts of stress while planning their wedding, but it always does seem to turn out to be a wonderful day, in spite of it all.

Date: 2005-02-25 04:36 pm (UTC)We just let them out. It really didn't look that bad. You might be able to get by with just loosening the lacing, especially if she carries low.
How pregnant will she be by the wedding?
