That is sad. I grew up in NCY with that being a part of my history and culture. Sad news. I didn't realize it had closed. Now I'll never get to stay there. Never had the money to do it. *sigh*
I didn't know it had closed either...one night at dinner last year, messyjessy and I got into a conversation about things from our childhood, and that was one that stood out for both of us. I had the 5 PM news on today and they mentioned the auction.
I never got to stay there either; and it always looked so cool, with the heart shaped tubs and stuff. And the jingle, just gets stuck in my head.
OH NO! Its the end of an era. Err, well, I guess the era ended 4 years ago, and we didn't even know. I'm very sad that I never had the opportunity to frolic in a heart shaped tub.
The best part of the article... Its catchy jingle "Beautiful Mount Airy Lodge" aired incessantly in the New York media market.
Incessantly ... Ain't that the truth!!! The damn thing is running through my head right now!
It's awful, isn't it? I suppose not knowing is what we get for moving south.
You can still frolic in a heart shaped tub, but it's just not the same I suppose. It won't be at Mount Airy Lodge...though I think Ceasar's has the champagne glass bath tubs.
I admit, I've always wondered how you get into and out of those tubs.
