Recently, I posted this poll about asymmetrical body parts and promised an explanation would be forthcoming.

The explanation is not particularly exciting, but since most people seemed to want to know, here goes.

[livejournal.com profile] zedrikcayne and I often enjoy showers together. They're a fun way for us to cuddle. One night, we'd spent too much time in the shower or something and I was feeling woozy. I stepped out, and climbed into bed, while he finished washing up. When he came out of the shower, he was standing next to the bed, and his testicles were at about eye level...and I noticed the difference between the two. I also know that my right breast is the slightly larger one, whereas his left testicle is larger, and yet, we're both right handed.

Thus, my unscientific query...

If you're interested in further analysis of the post, let me know, and I'll make another follow up post with analysis.

(and if you linked to the poll somewhere, would you please link to this explanation too? I know [livejournal.com profile] mactavish did, but I don't know if anyone else did.)

I think it's actually very common for one testicle (usually the left) to be a bit larger than the other. He could also have a varicocele (which occurs on the left side in about 85% of cases), which will generally make that testicle hang lower in the scrotum. As long as the size hasn't CHANGED (due to a tumor or other growth), it's probably nothing to worry about.

I don't believe you about the breasts. I demand the opportunity to independently verify these claims.

Preferably with some kind of chocolate sauce.

Why a duck?

Seriously? Because it's sticky, and takes a lot of licking to get off. And breasts like that, you don't eat all at once.

Generally (though not with any precision) the dominant side testicle is both larger, and lower, than the non-dominant. There is no apparent reason for it.

The dominant hand breast is usually higher, and a tad larger, than the non-dominant, because the underlying muscles of the chest are better developed.

In a couple of decades of making some (decidedly non-random) sampling of the latter I can say that, with pretty high certainty, I can tell whether a woman is left or right handed from seeing her nude chest.
