Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale

It's been a busy week.
Tuesday was our home inspection. Passed with flying colors...there are a couple of minor things that need to be done for FHA, like the two missing shingles on the roof-an extrabigdeal in the post 2004 hurricane season era. But apparently, nothing major or structural and in fact the home inspector told us the place was in great shape. I'm all for that. I do need to go through the "How to take care of your house" binder than he provided and make sure that I have no questions, and find out when the post-repair reinspection is.
I also met with our realtor's decorator, who helped us (well, me really, if you've never heard about Cayne's color sense, it's a good reason why I did that myself) choose colors for the house. They're not all on the web, but they're nice colors. Cayne's room (the "mancave"/office) is going to be a greyish color, the second bedroom is going to be kind of beige, and when it becomes a nursery will be repainted in a color we choose then. The guest bathroom will be blue (at Cayne's request), the master bedroom, and other living spaces will be a very pretty shade of green-the master bedroom in a darker shade than the rest, and the kitchen and master bath will be a sort of pale creamy yellowish color. Easy colors to work around as I find appropriate furniture and stuff.
Wednesday was my follow up visit with
The visit with the midwife included both good and less good news-not bad precisely, just frustrating. I have pretty much textbook symptoms of PCOS. Ovarian cysts, irregular and painful cycles, ovarian cysts, and further. So, we both expected that to pop up in the bloodwork that she did. No go. No thyroid weirdness either. So she's baffled, as am I, as to why everything else points to PCOS. And neither of us are sure what to do about it. While I was there, we did my anual well woman exam, and apparently my cervix is hard to find-I feel better about not having been able to find it myself. Upon manual examination, it seems that there may still be cysts there. She wants to do an ultrasound closer to the middle of my faux cycle, so eight more weeks on the pill and an ultrasound early in August and then some decisions. It's not the worst thing in the world to wait; at least then we'll know when we're moving.
I did mention the depression to her, but she suggested (and I agree) that it may be related to the pill, and changing now is unlikely to do much good since I'm only planning on staying on it for two more cycles. It's not intolerably depressed, it's just blah. If I decide to stay on the pill more than another two cycles or so, then we'll talk abut changing it up.
The rest of the week has included lots of errands, a gathering with some girlfriends and not much else. The meeting I was supposed to have this morning was cancelled, so I used some of that time to get Cayne's anniversary gift, drop some stuff at the cleaners and pick up some shampoo.
I, however am looking forward to the weekend. A little house-shopping, and a trip to the arcade for skee ball. (Which, in case you didn't know, was one of the things that
aquariumgirl and I did on our first date and one of the things that Cayne and I did the night we got engaged.) Sadly, I don't see Zeppolis on the snack menu at the arcade, which would make it perfect.

Date: 2006-06-10 01:14 am (UTC)On another note, I am on the NuvaRing instead of the pill. I like it a lot since you put it in and forget it. Also, I've had none of the nasty side effects I've had from oral hormones (or pregnancy). I can live with the Ring. There's not any vomiting involved for me.
Congrats on the house inspection. Is the house on septic? Did you have a separate septic inspection done? Did you have a radon inspection done? We had Radon in this house and it was a big deal to get the piping in to fix it. Even though Radon nearly never shows up in this area we got lucky I guess.
I'm glad it all went well. YAY!

Date: 2006-06-10 01:52 am (UTC)The feeling on restarting the pill was to go back on one I'd been on before, and change if needed, since it's a short term plan, for now. I'm not thrilled, but it's also not worth changing and dealing with new side effects, particularly unpleasant ones unless the plan becomes to stay on the hormones longer than a few months.
Sewer, not septic. And I think radon was in the inspection-Cayne mostly dealt with it, because he knows better than I do what to look for, ask, and so on.
