Only quasi though.

I <3 the new icon. And how appropriate, since we have to go do yet another semen sample for analysis.

Because the spouse messed up the directions. :P

(Nothing really graphic after the cut.)

One can't tell much from a semen sample that's given seven days after the last ejaculation.

This time we had 33 million sperm, a fine number, but the morphology (shape) was poor, since they were all degraded. (sad, sad, degraded spermies.) However, because it had been too long, the results aren't exactly meaningful.

Logically, my brain wants to say "But the first time, the shape was good, there just weren't enough, and the second time there were enough but they weren't in good shape, can we infer that there's truly hope for the third sample?

We go back in three weeks.

Urologist (Dr. W) is a character...told us how he once said to an attending "I don't care that the aorta is open, my wife told me I need to go do this now. It's 11:00-I'll be back at 11:05 and I won't even be sweating. (I didn't ask if he meant give a semen sample or actually go have sex with her.) He also amused us by telling us again that he jerked off into so many cups that he has no sympathy about the hospital bathroom...all the while laughing at us. Or with us. When I said "We need to do this again," the doctor looked back and forth at us for an explanation, and I mentioned that I'd gone with him to help. Dr. W. teased Cayne, "I told you to bring materials..." and to me, he said, "Good girl. That's what you're supposed to do."

Dr. W. also told me I was being too technical. He said to wait only three days to do the second sample. Perhaps I was being pedantic, but there's a difference between three days where day one is the day that he ejaculates and where day one is the day following ejaculation. So he finally clarified "72 hours." We'll go on Monday.

It could have been far worse. I got to watch the ultrasound-the tech let me stand behind her, and pointed out stuff. There are apparently harmless microcalcifications in his testicles, which aren't something to be concerned about now or later. And he has healthy, average sized testicles.

Assuming the next semen analysis comes back healthy in count, morphology and motility (which hasn't been a problem either time) the next decision to make is clomid-yes or no, and if yes, when. I have some thoughts about that, but I'm not sure yet...I know the doctor won't hesitate to prescribe it in April if I say yes. I know I can get the script and not fill it immediately. I know I can ask about doing it with trigger injections, instead of just clomid on it's own. Need to do some research and thinking and talking with Cayne before we decide that.

We amused both the doctor and the tech, apparently. She pointed out that we were fun, and funny, but also that he's her youngest patient in quite a while, by a good 30 years. And, the u/s tech even printed out the pictures of his testes for us to keep!

I love your icon!!

And I totally agree that he needed to give you a better idea of what "3 days" was.

Sounds like you have your picture for your next holiday card!!!
