We opened up some of the stuff we got the other day. A case of Rough Rider Condoms (They're studded!) a case of flavored condoms and a box of individual packets of ID Flavored Lubricant. The idea of bubblegum flavored lube just disturbs me. Caramel cream...sure. Chocolate Rasberry, sure. Even Kiwi Strawberry. But not bubblegum.

Many, many moons ago I purchased a bottle of pina colada flavoured lube. It was more sticky than lubey so I wound up not using it and the bottle was banished under the bed.

Where it was found by my pet rat during one of his forays. It wasn't until I moved a couple of months later that I discovered the bottle had been chewed into and Pesto (the rat) had eaten all the lube!

I keep to Wet nowadays. It's my tried and true.

I'm feeling slightly queasy (still) at the idea of bubblegum-flavoured lube. I'm okay with skipping all the flavoured lubes, but those rough rider condoms sound fun... ;)

Does your organization buy them and then hand them out or are they donated? Do you also hand out dental dams? Just curious.

When I was an RA and we did safe sex programs, they almost always didn't give out dental dams, which is neglecting a huge portion of the population (men who like to go down, lesbians, and bisexuals). Sheesh. They said that that wasn't as big an issue as unwanted pregnancy and drop-outs due to that.

We buy stuff and give it out to the kids we work with, at programs and street outreaches. We're not allowed to give out any in the schools.

We give out dental dams when we have them; they're more expensive than buying plain old condoms and lube. Right now it's the end of grant year stuff, so we're scrambling to spend money and we'll have really cool stuff for a while. Later on, it'll be harder to get flavored condoms and lube. If I'm making up "gift bags" for the ends of my programs and we have dental dams to last for a while I'll put them in the packets. But, every program I do barrier demonstrations at, I include talking about and showing the dental dam, passing it around, and talking about using plastic wrap instead because dental dams can be hard to get, especially if you're not old enough to go into a sex shop.

So yeah, we give them out when we can. (The last batch of bags I made all had dental dams)

How does one go about getting such a job? It's not exactly my dream job, but I certainly would enjoy something like this, with sex and health education stuff.
