Cautiously Optimistic
Nov. 5th, 2008 12:06 amEight years ago on election day, I voted in New York, and I sat up on IRC late into the night, and then into the early hours of the next morning watching election results come in and the ensuing confusion.
Four years ago, I cast a ballot in Virginia, early, not being certain where I'd be on election day, whether I'd be in my new home in New Jersey or in Virginia.
Tonight, I think about eight years ago, about the confusion, the fear, the anger and resignation that followed that election. I certainly didn't think that my life would look anything like it does now.
I embrace the opportunity the next four years holds. I am filled with cautious optimism for the potential.
And no matter what tonight's election results held, this election was filled with historical significance.
