Taxes done...finally. The one thing about Alpha related to taxes that really gets on my nerves is that it means that [livejournal.com profile] zedrikcayne just isn't around for us to get them done. The W2 comes out after Alpha starts, and it just ends up being difficult to find time to get them done. We'll get a refund...and you can say all you want about giving the government an interest free loan, but I actually enjoy getting the refund. It's not money I count on for my budget throughout the year, so it means I get to do a few special things. We'll probably plan a trip up north this summer in late June, put a little aside for the kitchen. I think we also may arrange a visit with [livejournal.com profile] entirelysonja this fall and maybe a short family trip to Atlanta or something. Funny too, to me that it was one of those things that I insisted would happen before the baby came last year-we did them late...I think even after my "due date" with Naomi, but they did happen before she arrived.

Naomi is on the verge of walking. She's so close-she's taken three or four steps unassisted and unsupported-she's never really shown any interest in walking while holding an adult's hand. I love her independent streak right now. I'm not sure I'll always love it though.

I bought her a pair of "shoes" over the weekend-I took her to get measured and her feet were a size 2.5. She's mobile enough that she needs something on her feet, but not walking enough that I want her to wear real shoes yet. I didn't like any of the Stride Rite options in her size-the soles seemed far too firm, so I ended up with another pair of Robeez for her. We tried on the 6-12 month size and they were tremendous...so I bought my one year old size 0-6 month size shoes. [livejournal.com profile] entirelysonja suggested checking out a pair of Pedipeds for her-they have some styles that have toe protection but have plenty of circulation around her foot like sandals do, and run from size 2.5 to 3.5. I need to look into it more.

We're getting ready for Naomi's birthday this weekend. We put up her swing set yesterday, and soon she'll get to use it. We've got a little party planned for Saturday for her, too. My parents arrive Wednesday, and that should be a nice visit.

And last, does anyone on my list own a copy of Diana West's "The Breastfeeding Mother's Guide to Making More Milk"? Is it a worthwhile investment for my library, or should I just see if I can borrow a copy?

Our friend's kid wears Pedipeds and they are awesome. Target also sells their own brand of Robeez for around $10, which worked well for us.

We're doing a swing set for Bella's first birthday, too. We also have the shoe dilemma. She hates anything other than Robeez, and she IS walking. Ironically, I saw the Stride Rites yesterday @ the Smithaven Mall and didn't care for them, either, so we are in a quandary, too. She is in a 5.5, though. Kudos to you for continuing to pump. How's it going?

My co-leader has that book and I have read it. It might be a worhtwhile addition- I found a few new ideas in it, but like everything else, there wasn't a ton written about "random hormonal causes for low supply".

Pedipeds are great for those learning to walk. They have squeaky shoes that provide great motivation to the new walker. I also like SeeKaiRun for new walkers, enough protection to keep them safe without bulk and weight that make it hard to learn.

FWIW, I don't like See Kai Run shoes. I just don't find the uppers to be very durable.

My son has had two pairs, and on one of them, the leather wore out in no time. On the second, the velcro gave out.

I do like Livie & Luca shoes, though.

Another vote in favor of Pedipeds.

I don't own that book, but I did hear Diana West give a talk on the subject once, and she seemed to be very knowledgeable. I remember at the time, I was very much looking forward to that book coming out, and I really should get a copy.
