Stuff about me, and stuff about our trip coming later-during naptime or tonight.

Today's toddler science lesson is all about balls. And that balls bounce and balls roll. Big playground style balls and small tennis balls. They all bounce and they roll.

And two interesting conversations online lately...

On a queer parenting board that I sometimes frequent, the question has arisen "Would you want your child to be gay?" And my answer-"Don't much care as long as she's happy. I'll support and love her no matter what." I had to put no thought, no consideration into that answer, and I was amazed at, and impressed by the well thought out answers on both sides of the question. For me, it was just a no brainer. She is who she is and that she grows up to be happy, healthy and a mensch is all that matters.

I also frequent a rather mainstream parenting website. There are a couple of good health related boards-thyroid and PCOS, and I figure, my crunchy voice is probably a good thing for some people who are on the fence. So I read a board for parents with babies due in December of this year (when Bulle, the new baby is due.) And someone asked about discipline and mentioned that she was uncomfortable with spanking though her husband wasn't. And so I talked about what we do-positive discipline, gentle discipline, etc. But she said it sounded interesting and how it sounded comfortable for her, and asked how we came to that place, and I really couldn't answer. I'll probably try to actually figure that out later on, and answer her back, but I've never really thought about it before.

For me, it's monkey see, monkey do. I can't possibly ask my son not to hit the other children if I won't pay him the same respect.

Yup, I'd most definitely want my child to be happy.
