That's what the wife of a local radio host said today.

I'm appalled.

A summary from a local news article of the story so far....

Local radio DJ was arrested in May after allegedly firing a gun in his home. Police said the bullet hit his wife's dog and bounced off, hitting her in the head.

DJ says he wants to move back into his house with his wife and work things out-he's been out of the house since he was arrested. Claims he's an alcoholic and the gunshot was an accident. Wife, even though she was shot, wants to reconcile-after originally claiming he fired the gun on purpose and wanting him arrested. Judge says DJ can't move back into the house, prompting the above comment about not reporting abuse.

I believe her. Some people like it. They have no idea how to function without someone to take care of, or to tell them what to do, or what they would do in a relationship if someone wasn't regularly beating them.

I'm not saying its right. Or in any way rational. But I understand that she's saying that its her choice if she wants to get killed by the guy.

OTOH, the SPCA better make sure the dog and any other animals are removed from the house, ASAP. And let's hope there are no kids there.

I'm appalled along with you.For your own protection you should keep silent about abuse? WTF. I can't quite wrap my mind around that, although given that she is the victim, I'm willing to cut her some slack. But to come out and give that advice to other victims of abuse... well, that's just wrong.
