The Evolution of Personhood
Nov. 4th, 2009 06:14 pmHere's a snippet of what happened in my house this afternoon a bit before naptime:
Naomi walks up to me, pats me and says "Papa! Papa!"
I look at her and ask "Where is Papa?"
She looked at me, waved and said "Bye bye" and ran over to the front door.
And when she hears his car in the evening, she goes to the door to look for him.
At 18 and a half months, little by little, I see less and less of the totally helpless baby and more and more of the separate person who she is.
She's amazing. And fascinating. I'm anxious to see who she turns into...and how she faces her world.
