Ways that my kid amazes me...

Naomi brought me a book this morning, and I pointed out and named some of the pictures in the book. (Miri is draped across my leg asleep.) She turned the page and I started labeling the pictures again, but asked if she could find the monkey (there's a monkey on every page of this book.) She didn't find the monkey (it's not a word she uses yet-anything with a beak is a duck, for example, and says "quack quack quack" and her other animal word right now is "cat" in English or in French.) But there was a picture of a car...not a car that looks like any of her toy cars or like the cars that she's seen for real, but she knew it was a car and told me so.
I love knowing that leap has been made-that she's starting to recognize the whole set of things that are called "car" and that she could tell me it's a car, even if she's never seen one like it.
And it really is time for a new Naomi userpic. That's the more recent of the two I've got and it's probably over a year old.
