Four years ago

Interestingly, eight years ago, I have nothing on the election results-we'd just moved into our house and had no internet access at home.

Tonight, my feelings are mixed. I am frustrated with the way things have gone for the last four years, relieved at many of the election results, hopeful that there will be compromise and moderation in governance ahead. I am disgusted that we still have to vote on the civil rights of others but pleased (in general) with the outcomes-still waiting to hear about Minnesota.

I still have hope. And two beautiful daughters who need a nation that protects their rights and knows their power as women. I vote for my children.

For what it's worth, I can almost guarantee the marriage amendment here will fail. There was some sort of glitch here in Minneapolis that led to most of the ballots here not being counted right away. The amendment is already shy of the 50% it would need to pass, and I can absolutely guarantee that the majority of the votes from the uncounted areas in Minneapolis are No votes. So unless something really unexpected happens, it's not going to pass.

This is a good night. :)

Even though Republicans still hold the House, many of the most intransigent and loopy of the teabaggers got shown the door, and as far as I can tell so far no new nutbars got in. I'm hoping this will restore some intention of actually doing the work they were elected to do to the more traditional GOP members and Washington can get on with things. Hope springs eternal, I suppose.
