I never wrote about our summer vacation trip...it stressed me out too much. The kids were wonderful, but between the stress over trying to get along with my mother and my father, who was always difficult but has moved into the downright unpleasant territory, it was...challenging. I did my best to shield the kids from it though, and so here are some photos from our summer trip-



Ready for our first day at camp:


Learning about rotary dial phones-the way Naomi jumped when we actually dialed the phone to let her hear the bell was amazing,

Miriam and Naomi both had their first chess lessons-I anticipate a fierce opponent if Miriam continues to play:



Carvel Ice Cream is a requirement for any trip north; my grandfather (their great grandfather) helped Tom Carvel invent his first freezers


Took the kids to see "Barack Obama's House", AKA The White House




The rest of the summer went by very quickly. I am amazed at how my kids have grown. I kind of just shake my head at it right now and appreciate where we're all at.

The phone picture sort of makes me nostalgic for when phones were actually used as, you know, phones.

Speaking of phones, the other day Zoe called my mom, and then handed me the phone "it's making a really weird noise, mom!" It was a busy signal. My mom's the only person we know/my kid calls who doesn't have voicemail apparently! :)
