Monday is Coming Too Soon
Feb. 2nd, 2003 11:15 pmRecovering from the weekend. An emotional start to it for sure. Celebrated
aquariumgirl's birthday yesterday, although I think many of us had the Shuttle disaster on our minds. I had the usual stress over finding the right gift for her, although she helped by mentioning that she was disappointed that "The Princess Bride" dvd wasn't "The Princess Diaries" dvd. I also got her the first two books in the series. Her husband rolled his eyes at the gift but I'd anticipated that reaction.
S. came along with me. (S. would be the person I met at
rivka and
curiousangel's on New Years Day.-Did I thank you guys for introducing us? If I didn't, I should. Really.) I thought he might enjoy games, and he seemed to have a good time.
aquariumgirl seemed to approve. (Did you?) I was of course the only un-geek there. It was fun to watch S. and
john_5 geek about esoteric things. There was much geeking going on. I sometimes wonder why my friends put up with me, seeing as I'm often the only non-geek.
S. had returned from Amsterdam the night before, e-mailed me that I'd see him this weekend and then collapsed into bed. We'd decided to go to the Spy Museum since we'd skipped out on that last time. So I'd ordered him a ticket for today, but we'd never come up with a plan. Late Saturday night we decided to both stay at his place. Snuggling was in order, but not much because he was worn out and I wasn't exactly sparkling at that hour either. Today was of course, the museum visit, lunch and backrubs. A nice day. I got back to my place at half past seven or so, straightened up the kitchen, ate dinner, made lunch, and caught up on e-mail.
I'm enjoying things unfolding with S. and at the same time I'm terrified. It's moving slowly which is nice, but I'm often confused and unsure. I'll admit, I'm smitten. Quite. I have that bubblehead feeling going on, and I'm enjoying it.

In all seriousness, he seemed like a very nice, very smart guy. If I'd met him some other way and I weren't already overbooked, I'd go for him myself! ;-)
So yes, I guess you could say that, on initial acquaintance, I approve. :-)

Date: 2003-02-03 08:32 am (UTC)He enjoyed meeting you all; we had an interesting conversation about it before he fell over from jet lag. How x person knows y person, and who is involved with whom....
Anyway, I'm looking forward to being able to bring him round again for more games. He had fun. I had fun. He got along with you all...
I'd say it's an okay beginning...
