There's just something about the fact that the primary participants in an argument about feminism are men.
...because, after all, the gender of the person raising a point is more important than the point itself. Sure, in some respects, personal experience might be pertinent, and extensive reading and thinking about an issue could be, too, but in the end, it's all about the testicles.
Well, I haven't seen the argument, and I was trying to be sarcastic-funny, so maybe I missed a little.
I thought you were talking about two people taking opposite sides of a point having to do with feminist theory of some sort, and there's no reason those couldn't both be men. I certainly agree that people can try to invalidate the experiences of others sometime, but I don't think that every nuance of feminism is rooted in the experience of being female. I consider myself a firm believer in feminism, and I think I've got a tolerably solid grasp of some of the basics.
Thanks! I must confess, I clicked "Post Reply" when I thought I was clicking "Preview"... I'd meant to add a section where I apologized for causing confusion. I hope that someone hits the original offenders with a cluebat soon.
Heh. You're quick; I go in the closet, I come back out of the closet and you've already replied.
And I'm staying out of the arguement; I got into a thing with one of the participants a few months back about something not related to feminism and decided he was stubborn and block-headed and therefore not worth my time.

And I do believe you have a grasp.
