They're taking my tonsils out this summer. Don't know when yet, but sometime in June or July. Problem is, Mom's not sure she'll be able to come down...not such a big deal, except that they're doing this up in Maryland I think, as an outpatient thing and I'll need babysitting for the first 24-48 hours. Will figure that out later.

Extrahard workout tonights...extrahurty tonight. Could belt tests be coming soon?

Still no word on MRI. Will try and find time to call tomorrow...if not tomorrow I should be able to on Thursday.

Really really nice conversation last night...someone who can geek over children's TV as much as I can. Appreciate that. Really.

Looking forward to weekend. Already too sleepy for words.

Egads! Tonsillectomy for adults is no small thing.

I got my tonsils out, had adenoidal tissue removed, a UVPP (reduces the uvula) and a septoplasty (deviated septum) all at the same time (for Sleep Apnea), and it was *hell*. Although you'll only be going through a part of that, please make sure you have the support and care around you that you'll need.

Also, you might want to get a second opinion. Getting tonsils out for adults is a rare thing these days. The only reason I did is because I was getting the other things done - my doctor actually left it up to me.

ahh yes.

I'm glad you're getting it done, since you've had such awful problems.

When I had mine out, it took two weeks really, before I felt 100% better. I could have gone back to work after 1, but not if I had to speak frequently.

FWIW, I have had a few sore throats since my tonsils were taken out, but -nothing- compared to before. I think we've talked about this, but if I had it to do over again, I would do it with no hesitation. It was the only surgery I've had to be put under for, and the first surgery I ever had (I've since had the c-section), and I was very nervous. I had an overnight hospital stay with mine, and I appreciated that.. don't know if that's an option or something you'd even want.

Good luck! I'm sure you will feel better afterwards.

If I may be a dissenting voice... ;o) You, my brother, my sister and now geminigirl, all in the space of a year and a half or so... all adults.

Personally, I think the problem is that for a while it went really out of fashion to take the tonsils out of kids while they were small. Now those kids are getting to be adults, and they're having or still having problems, and are fed up with it, so the decision is made to yank 'em out, except NOW they're adults and it's ickier.

It was, however, not much of a big deal for my sister, while my brother had the same hideous type of experience you did. I wonder if it's a gender thing...

Hey, you know...

...you DO have local friends. :o)

We can babysit you. Scherz and/or I can certainly take a day off work to help. :o)
