I am going to take this opportunity to inventory some of the reasons why I adore melebeth.

melebeth is sort of hard to explain. She and I have some similar/overlapping interests in public health. This is why last year's Jewish Christmas dinner included an intense discussion of vaginas. In the middle of a Chinese restaurant. Yes, people looked at us kind of oddly. But anyway, back to the overlapping interests. I love talking technical stuff with her because we'll look at a similar problem and approach it very differently, coming to mutually agreeable conclusions. I always learn something from her that way.

melebeth does a wonderful job when it comes to giftbuying for me. Mostly what I get from her is books. Wonderful books. Recently this has included a human sexuality textbook, a book by Lev Rafael, and a book about gay men and theatre. She knows what she's doing.

melebeth is a mensch. And that's what matters.



And that's why she's one of my favorite people.
