Our new kitchen duty schedule was posted. (Kitchen duty rotates through the office...each Friday someone cleans the microwave, cofffe pot, toaster, counters, etc.) I had kitchen duty last Friday. The new schedule runs until October.


I'm not anywhere on it.

Oh, I'm applying for a teaching position at CUNY/BMCC-they're looking for health education instructors. It's been posted nearly forever, but it's still up, so why not...right?

There is never a reason _not_ to apply for a job you're interested in. The worst thing that can happen is that they reject you. B.F.D. Because if you hadn't applied you also wouldn't have gotten it. I'll keep my bits crossed on your behalf.

Exactly. They're offering the position as Instructor/Asstiant Prof/Prof so, while I'm probably underqualified for it, it's not like I'm so far out in left field and all.

But teaching is my dream job...we know this.

With the Instructor/ you might not be underqualified. Instructor doesn't usually require a Ph.D. and you have useful life experience.

That's what I'm hoping for. That they'll see my valuable life experience, and my professional degree and say "we want her!"

Bits crossed though is good.

I'd really be unbelievably happy if I could get this job...

A lot of the former and a bit of the latter.

Even if this specific job doesn't pan out, I think you should continue to apply for that kind of position until you land one. The need is so great, and you've got such talent and passion for it.

I will. It's one of those things that I just may not have the experience for yet. It's what I want to do eventually, with my career I think-to teach people about how to do the kinds of things I do.
